13-Year-Old Arrested For Violent Sex Assaults In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD has arrested a 13-year-old male in connection to two January sexual assaults.

Police say the juvenile suspect was arrested Friday and charged with 2nd Degree Sex Offense, Attempted 2nd Degree Rape, and 2nd Degree Kidnapping for an incident on January 10th. According to detectives, additional charges are being sought for another incident on January 23rd. Those charges will include Attempted Common Law Robbery, Attempted 2nd Degree Sex Offense, 1st Degree Kidnapping, and Simple Assault.

The first incident on January 10th happened in a laundry room on Brookrun Drive. According to reports, the suspect grabbed a 17-year-old victim, forced her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her. Police say he took off when another person entered the laundry room.

The second assault happened on January 23rd. Police say a 24-year-old female victim was sexually assaulted around 6:30pm while walking on Murrayhill Road. In a release from CMPD, the victim said that she was attacked, forced to the ground, and then forcibly fondled by a male suspect. Officials say the victim resisted, screamed, and the suspect took off.

CMPD says these are some of the most brazen crimes they have seen, and that this investigation is still ongoing.  Due to the age of the suspect, his name will not be released at this time.

Investigators say DNA evidence allowed them to identify the juvenile as the suspect, but due to his age, his name will not be released at this time.
