CMPD detectives have identified and arrested a third suspect, 21-year-old Keandre Moore, in connection to the murder of Aaron Thompson.
On the morning of August 20, Moore was found and arrested by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and was charged with murder after speaking with detectives.
20-year-old Devone Walker and 25-year-old Marcus Watson were previously arrested for their involvement.
Update (August 15th):
As a result of the continued investigation, CMPD detectives have identified and obtained arrest warrants for a second suspect in connection to the murder of Aaron Thompson.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, deputies with the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Devone Walker, 20, in Harrisburg, N.C.
Walker was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Uptown to speak with detectives.
At the conclusion of the interview, Walker was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Police have identified 37-year-old Arron Thompson as the victim in the west Charlotte shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, August 11th.
As a result of the investigation, detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified and charged a suspect in connection to the murder of Mr. Aaron Thompson.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, detectives arrested 25-year-old Marcus Watson. Watson was transported to the Law Enforcement Center to speak with detectives.
At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Watson was transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with Murder.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in the 2200 block of Caronia Street in the Westover Division.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., Westover Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon with injury call for service in the 2200 block of Caronia Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on scene.
Shortly after a second victim arrived at a nearby hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Detectives are working to determine the relationship between the two victims.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from the CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, the Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC also assisted.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Office.
