Tank Collapse Causes Gas Line Rupture In Salisbury

SALISBURY, N.C. – A water tank collapse caused gas line to rupture in Salisbury on Friday afternoon, resulting in evacuations and a road closure.

It happened on Cedar Springs Road between Nouryon and Henkel Corporation.

The tank collapse released approximately 300,000 gallons of water, which caused a gas line rupture. It was secured within the hour but also caused a diesel fuel tank to rupture from the collapse.

Employees from both plants were forced to evacuate. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cedar Springs Road remains closed at this time. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
