CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte officially has a new chief of police. Β Chief Kerr Putney was sworn in at a ceremony Monday morning at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. Β
He will replace former Chief Rodney Monroe who retired. Β Putney is a 23-year-veteran and was the longest serving deputy chiefs on CMPD force prior to his promotion. Β
