Mecklenburg County Deputy Injured In Crash
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being involved in a car crash while on duty.
The sheriff’s office said a driver ran a red light in front of Deputy L. Blackwelder, causing the deputy to hit them. It happened just before 7 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of West 12th Street and North Church Street.
The deputy was taken to the hospital but has been released and is recovering at home.
“I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to Medic for their prompt response,” Sheriff McFadden said. “We look forward to Deputy Blackwelder’s return to serving our community once he has fully recovered.”
