MONROE, N.C. βΒ A 17-year-old is facing charges in a shooting that seriously injured another teen in Monroe on Sunday, according to the Monroe Police Department.
It happened around 6 p.m. Sunday on Elizabeth Avenue near East Franklin Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound.
The boy was transported to Atrium-Main and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
An investigation determined that the shooting stems from an argument between the victim and another juvenile.
The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious bodily injury and assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill.
The suspectβs identity has not been released.
Police said they believe it was an isolated incident as the two knew each other.
