Hiker Falls 75 Feet At Crowders Mountain

A hiker is recovering after falling approximately 75 feet at Crowders Mountain on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Gastonia Fire Department.

The victim was on a ledge on the backside of the Pinnacle Trail when they fell, the fire department said. The Gaston Emergency Medical Services, NC State Park Rangers and multiple units from the Kings Mountain Fire Department responded to help the fallen hiker.

“Crews hiked in, lowered the patient down approximately 150 feet to the bottom of the mountain and then used 1200 feet of rope to create a breaking system to get the patient where they could be transported,” the Gastonia Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

The victim was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Caromont Regional Medical Center.
