Student at Davidson College Arrested for Sexual Assault

DAVIDSON N.C. — George Coleman, a student at Davidson College, was arrested on February 2nd for sexual assault.

Officers with the Davidson Police were contacted by Campus Police, on January 15th, after a report of a female student being sexually assaulted by a male student.

The suspect, Coleman, has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. His bond has been set at $5,000.

The victim reportedly went to Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for treatment.

Davidson College released the following statement on the incident, stating “Davidson College takes any report of sexual misconduct seriously, and the college’s education, prevention, and bystander intervention programs have increased student awareness of the resources available to them and of their ability to help others.  Our goal is not only to prevent incidents but to create an environment in which students feel empowered to seek help.”
