Unemployment Applications Went Down

Unemployment around the country fell last week.

Federal reports show first-time applications for unemployment benefits dropped to 219,000 claims. That’s 12,000 less than the prior week.

Last week’s number was lower than expected. 

The labor market has been slowing in recent months, highlighted by the Federal Reserve’s decision to cut interest rates for the first time in four years on Wednesday.
