Man Dies After Being Struck By Van In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in north Charlotte Saturday night.

CMPD says that David Miller, 62, was walking on the 6500 block of Reagan Drive near Graham Meadow Drive when he was struck by a GMC 2004 Yukon at 8:16 p.m.

According to officials, the driver of the vehicle was traveling south on Reagan Drive when she swerved to the left to avoid hitting Miller. Police say that is when Miller moved left into the path of the driver.

The driver immediately stopped and called 9-1-1.

Miller was transported to Carolina’s Medical Center and died following surgery at 1:10 a.m.

Police say that speed and alcohol were not factors for the driver, but suspect that Miller was drunk.

Officials say that Miller was wearing dark-colored clothing and was walking in the road. Police say there is no sidewalks, crosswalks or working street lights in the area of this incident.
