Police: Alcohol Factor In Northwest Charlotte Fatal Wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say alcohol was a factor in a wreck that killed a man early Monday morning in northwest Charlotte.

The accident happened just before 1:30am.  Police say Barton Nixon was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on Toddville Road when he failed to stop at the intersection of Rozzelles Ferry Road.

Investigators say Nixon’s vehicle struck a GMC Yukon in the intersection.  Police say speed was not a contributing factor but they believe Nixon was under the influence of alcohol.

The driver of the Yukon was treated for a minor injury.  No other details have been released at this time.
