CHARLOTTE, N.C. — All mopeds in North Carolina will have to be registered with the DMV as of July 1st.
The NCDOT website says a driver’s license will not be required to operate a moped but the vehicle has to be registered to be on the road.
The requirements for registration include the moped’s manufacturer’s certificate of origin, along with a certification of plate and or address or an affidavit of facts for the registration of a moped.
The operator must also have either a valid North Carolina driver’s license or identification card while operating the moped.
Mopeds will not have to be inspected or covered by liability insurance. Click HERE for more information.
