Fire Causes $10,000 In Damages To Gastonia Home

GASTONIA, N.C. – A fire caused $10,000 in damages to a Gastonia residence Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at the 1800 block of Maxton Avenue at 1:37 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters noticed visible smoke and flames from the side of the home. The fire was contained to the outside of the residence and was extinguished within ten minutes.

No one was home during the fire.

Officials say the fire was caused by a malfunctioning wood stove.
