STATESVILLE, NC– Police arrested Michael Allen Dummett early Sunday morning for domestic assault of a female.
At about 4:10 am, Statesville Police responded to an apartment building at Mallard Creek Apartments on Simonton Rd. after a caller heard a couple outside arguing. Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman arguing outside of their apartment.
Officers then separated the two people and began investigating the incident. It was discovered that the two people were a married couple who lived in the apartment. Further investigation revealed signs of injury to the female involved and, as a result, the husband, Michael Allen Dummett, was arrested by officers. Dummett was charged with Domestic Assault on a Female. He was held on no bond at the time of arrest, due to the Domestic Violence statutes.
Dummett has since been released from custody late this morning on a $2,500 unsecured bond after having a first appearance in Iredell County District Court. Dummett’s next court appearance is slated for May 10, 2017.
