OCRACOKE, N.C. — Another shark attack reported at a beach in North Carolina. Β Officials say a 68-year-old male who was swimming in the National Park Service day use area on Ocracoke Island was bitten around 12:30pm. Β
Officials say the man was swimming approximately 25-30 feet offshore in waist-deep water with his adult son. Β No other swimmers were injured during the attack.
The victim has various injuries to his left lower torso and hip, lower left leg and both hands. Β He was treated on the scene and then transported by ambulance to the Ocracoke Airport for transport via medical helicopter to Pitt Memorial in Greenville, North Carolina.
