DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating a trooper involved shooting that happened Sunday afternoon near U.S. 64 and Peter Hairston Road.
At approximately 2:20 p.m., the State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Honda passenger vehicle in Iredell County.
Deputies say the driver of the Honda failed to stop for the trooper, initiating a pursuit which traveled into Davie County. At the conclusion of the pursuit, an armed confrontation took place between the driver and troopers.
Investigators say the driver was transported to Baptist Hospital with serious injuries.
The three troopers; Courtney Richmond, John Chapman, and Ryan Goodin have all been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the internal and SBI investigations.
The suspect has been identified as 30-year old Steven P. Little of Statesville, who was wanted by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 14 pending felony charges.
