CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is investigating a shooting in northwest Charlotte Friday night.
The shooting occurred on Greenview Place near Freedom Drive, at around 11:00 p.m. Police say one man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
CMPD says the victims were at a small cookout at a residence on Greenview Place, when a jeep drove by the house several times before the suspects opened fire at the residence and fled the scene.
Officers at the scene had to restrain an individual who drove past the officers stationed at the perimeter and continued driving through the crime scene tape. The individual then parked in front of the residence where the shooting occurred, exited his vehicle and began acting hostile toward officers. Officers physically restrained him after a brief struggle and it was determined he was related to one of the shooting victims. The individual was charged with Resist,Obstruct, or Delay a Law Enforcement Officer as well as Communicating Threats.
Police are working to determine suspects and a motive for the shooting.
