Family Creates GoFundMe For Murdered 14-Year-Old, Taylor Smith

CHARLOTTE, NC — The family of Taylor Smith, who was found shot to death at a park in Mount Holly, has created a GoFundMe account to help lay her to rest.

The account was created to help pay for the funeral expenses associated with the 14-year-old’s tragic and unexpected death.

On Monday afternoon Taylor’s body was found lying on the ground at River Street Park with gunshot wounds when police arrived, according to a news release.  She was transported by EMS to the Caromont Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead.

Police soon arrested and charged 18-year-old Darvon Fletcher with her murder. Fletcher had been arrested several times in the past, according to records, including two recent incidents in March. One of those incidents involved an armed assault after he was caught shoplifting at Northlake Mall.
