CHARLOTTE, N.C. –CMPD has arrested the man suspected of vandalizing an east Charlotte business and committing a hate crime.
Detectives charged Curtis Flournoy, 32, with the Burning of Building of Trade, Malicious Damage by use of an Incendiary Material, Felony Breaking and Entering, Ethnic Intimidation and Anonymous or Threatening Letters.
Police say Flournoy threw a rock through a window and set a fire in the front of a store in the 5700 block of Albemarle Road.
Authorities say Flournoy also left a note stating he did not want any refugee business owners and that they would torture the owner if they did not leave and go back to where they came from and signed it “White America”.
Flournoy was located and apprehended without incident. He was charged following an interview with Arson detectives at police headquarters.
