Operation North State Sending Donations To Victims Of Hurricane Helene

CONCORD, NC — Local non profit Operation North State is  stepping in to lend a helping hand to the victims of Hurricane Helene by collecting donations to help people still dealing with the devastation from the storm.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before so help needs to arrive there” Operation North State Founder Terry Synder said

Operation North State plans on filling 12 truckloads of items to take to the victims of hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina.

Founder, Terry Synder said while some people living in Charlotte may not be directly impacted, he encourages people to help other North Carolinians in need.

“We’re all impacted in all walks of life and frankly if there’s anything the world needs right now it needs some giving and caring and unity and I think that’s what people are looking for in a big way,” Synder said

Blaire Thompson dropped off an entire truck full of water and donations.

She said the devastation and catastrophic flooding hits close to home.

“Seeing that devastation my heart breaks. It’s kind of like you look at all that and where do you even begin, Thompson said.”

Which is why she’s doing all she can to help and encourage others to do the same.

“Just showing up for them. Right now that’s  the best thing any of us can do is show up. Whether it’s just donating or actually going up there once its safe enough.”
