CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Strides for Shelter, an initiative of the Canopy Housing Foundation, kicks off for the 9th annual 5K Run/Walk on Sat., Oct. 19th.
Realtors, runners, and walkers, along with those concerned about affordable housing, the homeless, and in particular, homeless veterans are asked to run, walk (in-person or
virtually), or donate to help raise money to build a one-bedroom, one-bath cottage for a homeless veteran.
The Strides for Shelter 5K is a family-friendly event, featuring a Kids Fun Zone and Kids 1-Mile Fun Run, and a costume contest.
All proceeds raised in this year’s race will benefit the Home Again Foundation, a local organization established in 2018, dedicated to providing sustainable, affordable housing along with supportive services for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless.
The public can register for the race until 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 19 by clicking here.
The race will be held at McAlpine Creek Park, 8711 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, NC 28212
