Discussion:
A strong upper level disturbance will move through the area today. This will bring even chillier temps to the region. Highs will reach the low 50s in the mountains to the mid 60s across the Piedmont. Overnight, moisture could bring some light showers for areas east of I-77, with the potential for some light snow for elevations above 4500′. A freeze warning is in effect for Ashe and Watauaga Counties from 2am until 10am Wednesday. Frost is also expected for the foothills. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will struggle to break out of the 50s and 60s, with overnight lows tumbling into the 30s. This means a potential frost for the Piedmont as well. High pressure will keep things dry through the end of the week with temperatures warming back into the mid 70s by the end of the weekend.
