Teen Dead In Single Vehicle Crash On John Belk Freeway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say a teen is dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened early Wednesday morning on John Belk Freeway.

Investigators say the driver of a 2005 Toyota Avalon, 16-year-old William Blottman, was driving at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a concrete pillar that supports the E. 7th Street bridge.

BlottmanΒ was the only occupant of the vehicle. Β Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Β Investigators believe speed is the contributing factor in the wreck. Β It is unknown at this time if the crash was alcohol related, according to a news release.
