CMPD Making Progress In City’s Nearly Three Dozen Homicide Cases

CHARLOTTE, NC — Since the start of 2017 there have been 28 homicides in the city, but CMPD says they are making quick progress in the majority of those cases.

Of the 28 cases, CMPD says they have made arrests in 21 of them. “We’re blessed to be in a department large enough where we have a dedicated homicide unit,” says Major Cam Selvey. “Not only is time not an issue for us because we’re going to put in whatever it takes, but distance is also not an issue.”

In addition to those cases, CMPD says detectives have also closed eight cases from previous years.
