Man Accused of Dragging Officer With Vehicle Arrested After SWAT Standoff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD says they arrested the man accused of dragging an officer by his vehicle during a traffic stop in the University area Thursday morning.

According to police, two officers stopped a vehicle in the 2500 block of W.T. Harris early Wednesday morning.   The officers learned the driver of the vehicle, Kendrick Parry, had an outstanding warrant and attempted to detain him.

Officers say Parry fled the scene as the officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle, dragging one of the officers approximately 20 feet.

The officer was transported to Presbyterian Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Parry was later taken into custody following a SWAT situation in east Charlotte.  He is facing numerous felony charges.
