I-77 Toll Lane Critics Displeased With Appeals Court Decision
CHARLOTTE, NC — Critics of the I-77 toll lanes project are not happy after an Appeals Court handed down their decision.
The court ruled that the state acted legally when it made a deal with a private company to build toll lanes from Charlotte to Lake Norman.
The lawsuit was filed by the group Widen I-77. They argued that the state violated public policy when compensating the private company to profit on the public road. Widen I-77 wants to add free lanes to help ease congestion.
The group says they are now organizing a meeting to determine what, if anything, they can do now to stop the project.
