Wedding Cake From Queen Elizabeth Sold At Auction
CHARLOTTE, NC — A rare slice of cake served at Queen Elizabeth The Second and Prince Philip’s wedding sold for $2,800.
The cake has survived for almost eight decades since their wedding day in 1947.
It is still neatly packaged in a small box with silver insignia of the then Princess Elizabeth stamped on it and an elaborate doily inside.
Alongside the cake is a letter from Elizabeth, thanking a guest for a wedding present.
Elizabeth and Philip’s wedding cake was an extravagant, 9 foot tall creation.
It weighed a whopping 500 pounds.
A few slices have also survived the decades and have been sold at auction.
In 2013, one sold for $2,300 at auction.
