Cleanup Continues After Heavy Storms Hit Albemarle Overnight

ALBEMARLE, NC — Some residents will spend the weekend cleaning up debris left behind after heavy storms hit the area overnight.

The storms rolled in around 2am Friday knocking down trees and power lines throughout the area. One tree crashed into the roof above a six-year-old girl’s bedroom, but fortunately the family says the girl was not in the room at the time.

Duke Energy crews spent the day working to restore power to hundreds of residents, but downed trees and other debris still remain.
