Bill To Raise SC Gas Tax Heads Back To State House

COLUMBIA, SC — A bill that would raise the gas tax in South Carolina to help pay for road improvements will head back to the State House Tuesday.

The bill passed the Senate Monday night with enough votes to override a veto promised by Governor Henry McMaster.

The bill would raise the gas tax two cents a year for the next six years. Right now, South Carolina has the second lowest gas tax in the country at 16.75 cents per gallon.
