CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Investigators say a handgun was found inside the restroom of Palisades Park Elementary School.
Officials say the gun was inside a boy’s restroom before school began Monday. No one has been charged at this time but officials believe they have identified the student.
Officials say the school will be in charge of disciplining the student. The school sent the following message to parents in regards to the incident:
Keeping families aware of incidents that happen on campus is important. This morning during arrival a weapon was found in one of our hallway restrooms. Safety protocols were immediately implemented and CMS law enforcement was notified. Students and staff are safe and the instructional day was not interrupted. Please check your children’s backpacks daily to ensure that appropriate items are being brought to school.
