CHARLOTTE, NC — Beginning Friday, May 12th, roughly 8,500 graduates and more than 100,000 guests are expected to visit two historic Charlotte venues during the 2017 graduation season.
Officials say nearly 30 commencements will be split between Bojangles’ Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium from May through July. Around 8,500 graduates from area high schools and colleges will be among those receiving their diplomas as friends and family cheer them on.
Graduating at those venues has become a long-standing tradition for Charlotte area graduates, and it’s a tradition that many are glad to see continue.
βFrom cheering on the Checkers to their high school or college graduations, both venues have become an integral piece of Charlotte history,β says Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) CEO Tom Murray. βWe hear from so many Charlotte residents reminiscing about the experiences they’ve had at these venues, and weβre excited to see these historic gems being embraced each graduation season by the community.”
