Police Release Name Of Man Killed In University Area Hit-And-Run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  Police released the name of the man who was hit and killed in the University area over the weekend.   A woman wanted for the deadly hit-and-run has turned herself in.

Kadalhia Johnson

According to CMPD, Kadalhia Denise Johnson, 19, was driving a 2009 Mercury Milan on University City Boulevard, when she hit and killed 35-year-old Brian Wood near the intersection of W.T. Harris Boulevard.

The accident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Officials say Johnson failed to stop after the incident but returned to the scene an hour later and was voluntarily transported to CMPD Headquarters.  She was charged with Felony Hit and Run.

Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.  Authorities say Johnson was wearing a seatbelt and had a green light at the time of the incident.

Investigators also say Wood attempted to cross the road without using the crosswalk and attempted to cross as the light indicated not to cross.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it develops.
