ROCK HILL, S.C. – Local jazz musicians are invited to participate in the next “Downtown Jazz Jam” on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 in Rock Hill.
The monthly event is free to the public and runs from 6-8 p.m. on the lower patio at The Power House Food Hall. Musicians of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate.
“Part of the beauty of the event is that you never know who all will show up,” said one event organizer, Tim Hartis of Rock Hill. “We have some awesome middle school student musicians from Rock Hill play, and we have seasoned pro players from greater Charlotte.”
The musicians play popular jazz standards, including swing, Latin, blues and ragtime. Musicians are asked to bring their own instruments, along with a music stand and Real Book if needed. A drum set, keyboard, amps and a small PA system are provided.
The goals of the event are to promote jazz, gain experience playing together in public, make musical contacts, and most importantly, to have fun.
The Food Hall and Middle James Brewing Company will be open nearby while listeners enjoy the music.
The Power House is located at 378 Technology Center Way in Rock Hill. Parking is free at the University Center Decks A (P3406) and B (P3407).
