Teen Thanks Heroes Who Died Protecting Her
PORTLAND, OR — New video shows a man accused of going on a stabbing spree on a train in Portland, Oregon ranting on a different train the night before the deadly attack.
“Oh it looks like we have a Christian or Muslim (expletive) bus driver,” the man can be heard saying in the video. “I’ll stab you too (expletive). Move forward, move forward Max driver (expletive).”
Portland police say 35-year-old Jeremy Christian yelled anti-Muslim slurs at two teenage girls on Friday, then attacked several strangers who tried to defend them. Two men were killed; another got hurt.
One of the girls at the center of the attack has a message for the heroes who gave up their lives.
“I just want to say thank you to the people who put their life on the line for me, because they didn’t even know me and they lost their lives because of me and my friend and the way we look,” said Destinee Mangum.
Christian is charged with two counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder. His first court appearance is tomorrow.
