Police: Repeat Violent Criminal Arrested For Committing Sex Crimes With Child

LINCOLNTON, NC — A man convicted of multiple violent crimes was arrested on Memorial Day after allegedly committing sex crimes with a child.

According to reports, Johnny Metts, 63, was arrested at a home on West Church Street early Monday morning. After a brief investigation, Metts was charged with Indecent Liberties with a Child.

Officials say the child, who was under the age of 12, was taken to CHS for treatment.

Metts has a long list of prior convictions, according to police, that include Felony Probation Violation, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon on an Officer, Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official, Escape from a Local Jail, 2nd Degree Trespassing, Impersonation of a Peace Officer, Assault on a Female, Simple Assault, Resist, Obstruct, and Delay a Public Officer, Communicating Threats, and Breaking and Entering.
