CHARLOTTE, N.C. –Taking its popular obstacle race to a new location and new extremes, the Steele Creek YMCA will host its largest crowd at its 3rd Annual  C2 Survival Race on Saturday, September 13 at YMCA Camp Thunderbird.

Hundreds of competitors will participate in three race divisions: adult, youth and teams. Within each division, runners will attempt to conquer extreme terrain – pushing themselves to their physical limit – for a worthy cause. All proceeds will fund scholarships for local kids in need to participate in enrichment programs like the Y’s Summer Day Camp and Afterschool.

For adult competitors, the course features a 3.2 mile trail run through the camp with obstacles that include climbing walls, a water carry and saw horse hurdles. For kids eight- to 14-years old, the race provides age-appropriate adventure challenges and agility drills including sand army crawls and incline walls.

“There are three things I’ve enjoyed about C2,” shares Stefan Fencl, race participant and Y member. “The diversity of obstacles is great – a few can be breezed through while others require mental focus. The distance of the course is long enough to prevent major back-ups, but not excessively long. And the Y is excellent at creating a positive environment for participants. The staff and volunteers make it a great race!”

In addition to the race, a variety of family fun activities like paddle-boarding, zip-lines, pony rides and kayaking will be available.

The Y is expecting a sold-out event so early registration is encouraged. Click here to register online. To volunteer or support the race without competing, please contact c2survivalrace@ymcacharlotte.org. For general event information, call 704-716-4900.
