City Considering Repeal Of Extraordinary Event Ordinance

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD Chief Kerr Putney is recommending the city repeal the extraordinary event ordinance without making changes to other existing ordinances to compensate.

Putney spoke at a community forum on extraordinary events in Elizabeth Tuesday. He says public safety at large events is about more than protestors, it’s also about the threat of terrorism.

The council is set to vote on the issue June 6th.
