Charlotte City Council Passes $2.4 Billion Budget
CHARLOTTE, NC — Public safety is the top priority in the $2.4 billion budget that was passed by City Council Monday.
The city will add dozens of police officers and more money for affordable housing without having to increase property taxes. Council members say input from the community after the Keith Scott shooting and the protests that followed influenced their priorities.
The budget does include a six dollar per year increase in the solid waste fee. Charlotte water cost will also increase by more than $20 a year.
