Prison Guards Killed by Inmates During Transport in Georgia

EATONTON, Ga. (AP) β€” Authorities say inmates killed two prison guards during a bus transport in Georgia and are now being sought by law enforcement.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teresa Slade says authorities are searching for two men after the incident, which occurred about 7:23 a.m. Tuesday, southeast of Atlanta. She says a witness saw the men escape in a dark green Honda.

The two officers identified as, Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue, were reportedly disarmed by the inmates and were both shot and killed.

Authorities have identified the inmates as Donnie Russell Rowe, a white male, 6’1”, 181lbs with blue eyes and brown hair.Β  Rowe is serving Life Without Parole for the offense of armed robbery and was housed at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, Ga.

The second inmate, Ricky Dubose,Β  is a white male, 6’1”, 140lbs with blue eyes and brown hair. Dubose is serving a 20-year sentence for armed robbery and was housed at Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, Ga.
