Lightning Sparks South Charlotte Apartment Fire
CHARLOTTE, NC — The Red Cross is assisting after fire damaged several apartments in south Charlotte Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out around 7pm when lightning struck the roof of a two story apartment on Atkins Circle Drive in Ballantyne. When Charlotte Fire crews arrived, they say there was heavy smoke coming from the roof.
It took crews about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. Officials say six apartments were affected, but it was mostly water damage.
Officials say no one was injured during the incident.
The Red Cross is working to find shelter for those affected by the fire.
