Some Areas Recovering After Heavy Storms Moved Across The Region

CHARLOTTE, NC — Crews in Catawba County are working to repair damage left behind after Tuesday’s storms.

Workers in Conover are replacing several utility poles that were snapped in two near Fairgrove Church Road and 15th Avenue Boulevard SE.

Crews nearby were also working to soak up water that rushed into the dining room at Papa Pesto’s Italian Restaurant. Power was also knocked out at the business, and owners say they are not sure when the restaurant will be able to reopen.

Viewers also sent in photos and video from the storms as they moved across the viewing area. One picture from Casey Shell shows a lightning strike in Hickory, while a video sent in by Enice Copely shows hail falling in Newton.
