18 year old, juvenile charged in deadly northwest Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An 18-year-old man and another juvenile have been charged with murder in connection to a deadly shooting at a convenience store on January 14th.

Detectives arrested Demetrius Adams and another juvenile on Friday, January 24th. Both were interviewed and transferred into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

They have each been charged for the murder of 19-year-old Jaquad Pearson.

The shooting happened at the Market Express convenience store of Brookshire Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14th. Pearson was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD is investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte. 

Police said they found a man shot at the Market Express convenience store on Brookshire Boulevard just after 7:30 Tuesday night. 

Medic pronounced him dead at the scene.

The WCCB crew on the scene could see a car and the windows were shot out.

Investigators are talking with witnesses and trying to find evidence.

“We are always looking for privately owned or public cameras, and the homicide detectives are checking them now,” CMPD Major Bret Balamucki said. 

Police have not released any details about a suspect.
