Family Of Ohio Girl Killed By Amoeba Suing The US Whitewater Center

CHARLOTTE, NC — The US Whitewater Center is being sued by the family of an Ohio girl who died from a brain eating amoeba last summer.

Lauren Seitz, 18, died 11 days after visiting the whitewater center with her Church group last June. The Centers For Disease Control found the filtration system was not adequate to kill the deadly amoeba.

Seitz’s family is seeking $450,000 in damages, and punitive damages of more than $1 million.
