Two Arrested After High School Student Killed In Rock Hill Shooting
ROCK HILL, S.C. — A 17-year-old was killed in Rock Hill’s third homicide of the year. The teenager who was killed has been identified by Quan Torbit. Investigators say the rising South Pointe High School senior was shot and killed following a large disturbance and fight that happened in the area of Sunset and Roddey Streets Sunday evening.
Police say a Facebook post sparked two women to meet at a nearby park to fight and that is what caused the large disturbance.
A 20-year-old woman was also shot during the disturbance and is being treated at a local hospital for her injuries. Demetric Houze has been charged with the murder of Torbit. Timothy Holley has also been arrested in this case. Police have charged Holley with discharging a firearm in the city limits. Police say more charges may be pending.
A second shooting was reported later that evening on Walnut Street. Investigators say a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times and is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Charlotte. Police do not believe these shootings are connected.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call the York County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-409-4321.
