Father Arrested After Son Kills Wife, Shoots Father-In-Law, Commits Suicide

ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC — One arrest has been made in connection to a murder, shooting, and suicide that happened Saturday night.

Officials say Jeremy Fletcher, 35, of Lenoir, murdered his wife, Ami Fletcher, 33, of Taylorsville, and shot her father Charles Brown before committing suicide over the weekend.

According to reports, the shooting happened just after 8:30pm at Brown’s home on Houck Mountain Road. Deputies say they found Brown with a gunshot wound to the neck, and found Ami dead inside her Jeep Cherokee with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. Warrants were issued on Jeremy charging him with one count Murder and one count Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill.

Investigators also arrested Jeremy’s father at his home on Draco Road around 2am Sunday. He is charged with Accessory After The Fact for each of Jeremy’s charges.

According to reports, Jeremy was found inside a barn on his Duck Creek Road property in Caldwell County around 10:30am Sunday. Deputies say it appears Jeremy committed suicide by hanging. Detectives are investigating the suicide.

According to officials, Jeremy and Ami were separated at the time of the murder. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Officer had charged Fletcher with Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury on March 1, 2017 stemming from another incident between he and his wife. Officials say Fletcher had shot her in the leg, and that case was still pending in the court at the time of the murder.
