Well known pastry chef joins upscale restaurant in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – L’Ostrica is thrilled to welcome Samantha “Sam” Allen to the team as Pastry Chef. Allen is known most recently for her brick-and-mortar at Camp North End, Wentworth & Fenn, but has also worked at The Fig Tree in town.
Her list of accolades is equally as impressive as her experience: Best Pastry for QC Nerve’s Best in the Nest in 2022 & 2023, Pastry Chef of the Year in 2021 from Unpretentious Palate, and Best Pastry Chef from Charlotte Magazine in 2017.
“I’m incredibly proud to work alongside Cat and Eric, plus their amazing team,” said Allen. “It was imperative for me to find a restaurant whose beliefs align with supporting local and fresh ingredients.”
In her new role, Allen will contribute to the pastry elements of the seasonal tasting menus offered in the dining room, including mignardises and bread service, in addition to the a la carte menu available at the bar and, during warmer months, on the patio. On Sundays, she will create lighthearted desserts to round out the casual supper, whose theme changes weekly.
“We’ve long been fans of Sam’s beautiful and delicious creations, along with her focus and dedication to her craft. Her mission of making everything from scratch and with intention aligns seamlessly with what we’re doing here at L’Ostrica. She is incredibly talented and her addition to the team will help elevate our entire program. We are grateful to have her on our team.”
L’Ostrica is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 to 10 p.m., as well as 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Sundays for their ticketed Sunday Suppers.
