RALEIGH, NC – The N.C. Department of Transportation is launching a new page program for high school students so they can spend a week working for the agency. The Garrett A. Morgan Page Program runs from March 24-28 and is designed for high school juniors and seniors attending Title I schools in North Carolina. Title I is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance and support to schools with high numbers of students from low-income families.
Participants will engage with NCDOT professionals, enjoy hands-on activities, ride a state train, and learn about transportation planning, environmental analysis, public transit and public safety. The program is named for Morgan, an African American inventor who created the modern traffic light 1923.
The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily the fourth full week in March at NCDOT’s Highway Building, 1 South Wilmington St., in Raleigh.
