Store Clerk And Son Arrested In Conspiracy To Steal Money From Gas Station
IREDELL County, N.C. — Three people have been arrested for stealing money from a Mooresville gas station.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department, on Monday, July 10th, deputies responded to a large fire and reported larceny at the Mystic gas station at 2135 Charlotte Highway in Mooresville.
The fire department was called to extinguish the fire.
Deputies were told that an unknown male subject opened the register and stole money while the store clerk was in pricing merchandise in the cooler.
After taking witness statements and reviewing surveillance video, detectives determined the clerk was lying about the suspect.
Video showed the clerk moving away from the register to allow the suspect wearing a woman’s dress and wig to access the register and steal cash.
Authorities identified the suspect as Rex Carlo Farmer, 42, the son of the clerk, 62-year-old, Rex Allen Farmer. Rex Carlo Farmer’s girlfriend, 24-year-old Kayla Nicole Price, was also present during the robbery.
Detectives interviewed the suspects and discovered Rex Carlo Farmer and his father Rex Allen Farmer conspired to steal money from the register.
Rex Allen Farmer showed his son how to open the register before Rex Carlo Farmer left the store to put on the dress and wig.
The investigation also determined Rex Carlo Farmer started the fire to burn his disguise.
Rex Carlo Farmer was charged with Misdemeanor Larceny, Conspiring to commit Embezzlement by Employee, Burning of Personal Property, and Felony Obstruction of Justice. He is being held on a $25,000 secured bond and has a pending court date in District Court.
The store clerk, Rex Allen Farmer was charged with Embezzlement by Employee and Conspiring to commit Embezzlement by Employee and is being held under a $10,000 secured bond with a pending court date in District Court.
Kayla Nicole Price was charged with Misdemeanor Larceny and conspiring to commit Embezzlement by Employee and is being held under a $5,000 secured bond with a pending court date in District Court.
