CHARLOTTE, NC — Transportation officials say the Gold Rush will be permanently discontinued starting Monday, August 14th, with the last day of service being Friday, August 11th.
The Metropolitan Transit Commission adopted the discontinuation of the Gold Rush Red Line (Route 86) on June 28th. This plan was recommended because of significant construction delays along Trade Street.
CityLYNX Gold Line construction is slated to continue until 2020.
Passengers will maintain the ability to travel between Johnson C. Smith University and the Charlotte Transit Center via the Route 7 Beatties Ford Road and Route 1 Mt Holly Road.
Route 7 inbound travels along Beatties Ford Rd, passing by Johnson C. Smith University campus, and continuing along Trade Street to the Charlotte Transit Center.
Route 1 inbound travels along Rozzelles Ferry Rd and W. 5th Street, turns onto W. Cedar St., and continues along Trade Street to the Charlotte Transit Center.
