WASHINGTON, D.C. —Β The U.S. military is making progress against the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria, but President Obama says more work needs to be done. Β We know a total of 18 airstrikes hit ISIL targets on July 4. Β
The President says the UnitedΒ States plans to ramp up its fight against ISILΒ in Syria in the coming weeks, but he warned it will take time.
“This will not be quick. Β This is a long-term campaign. Β ISIL is opportunistic and it is nimble,” said the President.
While the President doesn’t plan to send more American troops overseas, he says the United States has to adapt its strategies to fight and defeat ISIL.
